Who are you following on Social Media?
I’ve recently taken it upon myself to intentionally upgrade my social media follows. I am tired of following people who are negative and complain all the time.
I want to follow more positive and motivated individuals. So, I’ve removed (just a few!) people from my social media circles, and I’ve added a whole lot more.
Do you need an upgrade too?
Here’s why it’s so important:
1. Humans tend to become that by which they are surrounded.
If you are surrounded by negative people, you tend to become negative. At the very least, you become less positive. So, what happens when you surround yourself with positive, hard-working, motivated, generous, loving people? You tend to become those things also.
2. Social media learns what you like and shows you more of it.
That’s right. Nearly all the major social media platforms learn what you like and strive to show you more of the same. So, if you’re constantly liking negative posts, you’re more likely to see them in the future. That negativity breeds more negativity.
The good news is that you can use this feature to your advantage! Start liking things that align with your personal goals and desires, and start seeing a difference in the quality of the things being shown to you by social media (especially Facebook).
3. It will help you unlock a new set of digital resources.
When you start following the leaders in your industry, you gain access to their shares. In a way, you gain access to their resources. I don’t just mean their personal blog posts and pages. No, you also gain access to whatever it is they are sharing.
They are going to be following high-achieving, motivated, and successful people.
You probably haven’t heard of a lot of these people yet. That’s why it’s so important to upgrade your social following and unlock new connections and resources that can help you achieve greater success.
Now, it’s time to take action! If you’re ready to upgrade your social media accounts, then start following 10 new positive, motivated people today!
You may also want to look at your existing connections and remove a few. I’m not talking about anything major, just a little bit of housekeeping. Then stay on the lookout for people that are constantly posting negative things. If you’re seeing it too much, consider severing that connection altogether, or (if possible) adjusting your account settings so that you don’t see their posts anymore.
Also, make sure that you ‘Like” posts that are high quality and of a type that you enjoy and would like to see more frequently on your social feed.
